Katrina Kaif (age 33, height 1.73 m) is a British film actress and model, who was born as Katrina Turquotte on 16 July 1983 in Hong Kong. She is predominantly known for her work in Bollywood movies but has acted in Telugu and Malayalam films too. She is also one of the most famous celebrities in Bollywood.
She started her career as a fashion model, when she was just a teen. Katrina was first spotted by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, during a fashion show and decided to cast her in his film Boom (2003). Unfortunately, the film didn't do well but she got an opportunity to work in a Telugu movie called Malliswari (2004). After this, she made her Bollywood debut with Salman Khan, in his movie Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya? (2005) and gained wide recognition with her movie Namastey London (2005), in which she featured with Akshay Kumar.
In 2010, she was nominated for the Filmfare Award - Best Actress for her role in the movie New York (2009). Kaif gained huge success in Bollywood with movies like Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009), Raajneeti (2010) and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) etc. She received her second Filmfare nomination for her performance in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011). She firmly established herself in Bollywood as one of the most successful actress, after being a part of the two highest grossing movies ever made in Bollywood i.e. Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Dhoom 3 (2013).
Personal Life
Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to a British businessman of Kashmiri descent, Mohammed Kaif (Father) and an English lawyer and charity worker Suzanne Turcotte (mother). According to Kaif, she has seven siblings: three elder sisters (Stephanie, Christine and Natasha), three younger sisters (Melissa, Sonia, Isabel) and an elder brother, Michael. Her younger sister Isabel is also a model and an actor, who will be seen in Bollywood soon. When she was a child, her parents got divorced and she was raised by her mother. Since her mother decided to work for social causes, it led to the family's relocation to a number of countries.
Due to frequent relocation, Katrina and her siblings did not attend a formal school and completed their studies at home. She was just 14-years-old, when she won a beauty contest in Hawaii, and received her first modeling assignment for a jewellery campaign. After coming to India she changed her surname to Kaif, because it was easy to pronounce.

Acting Career
She made her acting debut with the movie Boom in 2003, which also had Amitabh Bachchan, Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff, Madhu Sapre and Padma Lakshmi. Although the movie didn't do well but she started receiving other offers from the modeling world. She appeared in the first Kingfisher Calendar and walked the ramp for various brands.
In 2004, she made her Telugu debut with the movie Malliswari with Daggubati Venkatesh, in which she played the role of a princess who went far away from his dangerous caretaker. She stepped in to Bollywood with her movie Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? in 2005, alongside Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen and Sohail Khan.
Later, in 2006, she appeared with Akshay Kumar, in movie Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. In spite of being an unsuccessful movie, people found her cute and her chemistry with her co-star Akshay was well received. After which, they both came together for a new project, Namastey London in 2007. When this movie hit the screens, it became a turning point of her career and she became one of the leading ladies of Bollywood.
