India is growing, emerging and expanding every day. Today India stands as a modern youth orientated country. But yet there’re social issues that are there right below our nose and still nothing is really happening about it. The issues annoy us, fill our chat shows and debates but where is the progress? In between different events, launches and festivals lie these social issues that are screaming out to be resolved and looked at. Here’s what bothers each Indian the most.
1. Caste system
The caste system is followed in this country since ages. It was created to divide work among people, but soon it led to discrimination among the lower class and the upper class. But that’s not it, soon reservation system was introduced which led to yet another issue, ruining the peace and education system of this country.
2. Poverty
Many citizens of India are below poverty line and the government is certainly trying to provide them help in different ways. But even after that, you will witness a few beggars at almost every street of India.
3. Low status of women
Feminism is on a high in India these days, but even after that, women are oppressed all around the country in different ways. Yes, the conditions have improved in urban cities but if you look at the rural India, there are still atrocities, dowry, rapes and even forced prostitution.
4.Gender inequality at work
We often hear and sometimes experience gender inequality at workplace and I am sure everyone will agree to this. I am not only talking about women alone but men too are the victims of this issue. And it’s high time to think about it.
5. Alcoholism and Drugs
The youth of our country is drowning deep in this major issue called ‘alcoholism and drugs.’ Yes, consuming alcohol casually is not a crime, but getting addicted to it is a big NO. Drugs, on the other hand, must vanish from our lives completely otherwise one day, we will all be shattered into pieces and nothing will be able to fix us back.
6. Child Labour
Those tiny little hands who should be carrying loads of books are carrying the responsibility of their home and this is why child labour is the biggest evil of this country. In fact, India has the highest ratio of child labour in the world.
7. Illiteracy
Illiteracy leads to unemployment, which leads to dependency and eventually, corruption. Even after being an independent country from around 59 years, India is suffering from this issue and has no specific plans of removing it in near future.
8. Unemployment
Unemployment is a major issue in India as a lot of people commit suicide every year and thousands of girls are forced to choose prostitution because of it. In fact, there are people who are driving rickshaws even after they hold MBA degrees.
9. Sexual Abuse
Currently, sexual abuse rates are increasing every day in India and women are being raped every day. Even a 5-year-old is not spared by these monsters and this is the topmost thing on everyone’s list that needs to stop right now.
10. Religious Conflict
Although India is a secular country, riots is an everyday issue. Not even a single day goes by when we don’t see a protest going on for one thing or another. It’s high time people understand that it will not get them anywhere.
