We have always criticized our government for being slow, outdated and knowing almost nothing about technology. When we see their recent activities on Twitter and other social channels, we go wow! And now the government has launched apps that are actually useful and smart. The apps come under the Digital India Scheme that aim at helping the poor, senior citizens, women and budding entrepreneurs. All these apps are absolutely free and compatible with Android based smartphones.

Started in January 2016, this scheme provides various kinds of aids, subsidies and exemptions to the budding entrepreneurs of the country.

 

Himmat

Officially sponsored by the Delhi Police, this women safety app is the need of the hour. Himmat allows you to register on the website of Delhi Police and in case of an emergency, you can send an SOS alert, along with the audio-video transmission and  your GPS location, directly to the police.

 

Kisan Suvidha

This app is specifically developed for the farmers. With the click of a button, farmers will be able to access information regarding weather, dealers’ market prices, plant protection, agro advisories, IPM practices, extreme weather alerts and market prices of commodities in the neighbouring area.

 

ePathshala

A joint venture of Ministry of Human Resource Development and National Council of Education Research and Training, this app allows students to access e-books on their smartphones and also helps parents and teachers to interact better.

 

CBSE Saransh

The is a self review analysis app for both schools and parents. You can track the performance of the student and take necessary corrective measures. The app becomes a common platform connecting teachers, students and parents.

 

myGov

With the help of this app, you can send your opinions and suggestions to the central ministries and associated organizations to improve their performance and services.

 

IRCTC Connect

The feature-rich app allows you to find, book and cancel train tickets from your smartphone.
