It doesn’t take much to send people into paroxysms of excitement on social media. The new haircut of a cricket legend is quite enough. So Mahendra Singh Dhoni now sports a trendy new haircut and some carefully manicured facial hair and people loved it. Or not. Take a look:
The hashtag seems to indicate that the name of this style is the Faux Hawk (cousin of the Mohawk?). Dhoni has always been known to experiment with hair and this is his latest, fairly funky look.
The images were posted by hairstylist Aalim Hakim, director of Aalim hair n' beauty lounge. He has over half a million Instagram followers and seems to be a stylist to celebs and other cricket stars as this Instagram page indicates.
Director Farah Kahn was directing Dhoni in an ad commercial and claimed to become his fan. Of course that went viral.
Fans are clearly digging the new look and think it makes Dhoni look younger.

Dhoni has sported some pretty extreme looks in the past as well.
The man has experimented with hair quite a bit – sometimes unwisely, always boldly... often meme-worthy
Either they didn’t like the new look or thought it was unnecessary to make such a big deal about some guy’s hair, no matter how famous or talented.

The ‘do’ looks really good at the salon. At home though, one is quite unable to recreate the stylised look. Dhoni’s new haircut looks great in the pictures – for how long though?
