Dhoni Will Be Mentor for the Indian World Cup Squad – What Does This Mean

Recently it was announced that M S Dhoni would be the mentor for the cricket team going into the T20 World Cup.  The ‘special comeback’ of retired Dhoni was a surprise considering that the Indian cricket team hasn’t had an official mentor that most can remember. So why now and why Dhoni? There are several very good reasons for this.

Dream leadership

The aggression and boldness and talent of Kohli coupled with the wisdom, experience and influence of Dhoni will be unbeatable. We hope.

Loving it

There is no one quite like Dhoni. He is the guy leading the CSK team even though he is unable to perform as a batsman. It is his invaluable insight and ability to lead that makes him special.

A surprise

It was a surprise announcement

Dhoni as mentor

The announcement was widely welcomed. Dhoni’s presence in the team will be an asset feel experts and fans.

Different role

Dhoni will be an asset – in any capacity, feel fans.

Like this

Dhoni will be like a secret weapon of team.

A nonplaying captain?

A mentor would be something like this and the team would benefit from it, feel the tweeple.

Literally this

The ‘helicopter’ has landed as this meme aptly puts it. The man who made the helicopter shot famous – and more importantly led India to win three world cup tournaments – will now travel with team India for the T20 world cup.

No one else will do

The unique loyalty that Dhoni inspires – in players as well as fans – is sui generis.

The team is undecided

We don’t know who will make the final team for the world cup. Dhoni will have invaluable insight to offer with the selection as well. In the past as well, Dhoni has mentored players like Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal and helped boost their performance.

Dhoni the finisher

He is a calm tactician, keeps cool during the crunch moments and is an excellent finisher. As such his brilliant cricketing mind is going to be an asset.

Great combo

Not only that, Dhoni’s mentorship should also take care of a problem often hinted at. There have been reports of disagreements or squabbles between skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Dhoni’s presence should help soothe such situations.

Just one camp

Hopefully there will be no camps within the team now, Dhoni’s supproters feel.

Or this?

Some feel that there may be friction in the dressing room or some disturbance in the chain of command.

Still here

So M S Dhoni will be a part of this T20 world cup as well. He had won us the first-ever T20 world cup. He led India to win the 2007 T20I World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Here’s lookin’ at you, T20 World Cup of 2021!
