IPL 2017 Day 8 Highlights and More

Yesterday was day 8 at the Indian Premier League’s 10th edition. Match 10 of IPL 2017 was a faceoff between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the home ground of the Mumbai team; Wankhede Stadium. Here are some details about the match, the current points table and a few other interesting tidbits of IPL 2017:

Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad

MI won the toss and skipper Rohit Sharma chose to field first. SRH made 158 for the loss of 8 wickets. Top scorer for the team was skipper David Warner with 49. The other opener Shikhar Dhwan made 48 and Cutting made a quick 20 of ten balls.

Bowlers did well to keep the total down

Apart from the opening pair, only Australian player Benjamin Cutting got into double figures. Jaspreet Bumrah was the highest wicket taker of the match and the most economical for his team with figures of 3/24.

MI won the day

The hosts gave what experts termed as a ‘clinical performance’. Parthiv Patel made 39, coming in as opener, with a great strike rate of 162. But man of the match was Nitish Rana for his 45 off 36 balls and a strike rate of 125. MI won by 4 wickets with 8 balls to spare.

SRH dislodged from the top spot

Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their first match of the season and have been dislodged from the top stop on the points table.

The skipper enjoys watching the Pandya brothers

MI captain Rohit enjoys watching Hardik and Krunal play and watching them express themselves on the field. The brothers also recently bought a flat in upmarket Versova where they will now live.

The other IPL brothers

Rahul Chahar and Deepak Chahar are first cousins hailing from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. Deepak (24) played for Rajasthan Royals and now for the Rising Pune Supergiants. Rahul made his IPL debut this year.
