Saturday, 8 April 2017 saw two more opening ceremonies of the tenth version of the ongoing Indian Premier League. There were some high energy performances as part of the promised eight opening ceremonies of IPL10. There was the fourth match of the season between Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiants, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore and the fifth match between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Here is a look at the entertainment acts and matches.
The singer from Kerala is a favourite of A R Rahman and is also a judge on a popular singing show. He performed to popular songs from Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani and Befikre as well as a few renditions in regional languages.
Before the afternoon match between Kings XI and RPS, Bollywood performer Disha Patani, took to stage with some of the popular songs such as Kar Gayi Chull, Laila main Laila and a song from the M S Dhoni biopic.
She entered to the strains of RCB’s anthem and then went on to perform to some of her own popular songs: Tukur Tukur, Manma emosun jaage and others.
Both the captains arrived with characteristic fanfare; on golf carts and accompanied by brightly decked up dancers with the respective team songs playing. Shane Watson on behalf of RCB and Zaheer Khan on behalf of Delhi Daredevils, shared the stage to pledge the upholding of the spirit of cricket.
This was the 4 PM match, that took at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Kings XI Punjab chose to field after winning the toss. The Pune team made 163/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Glenn Maxwell, captain of KXIP powered his team to victory with his unbeaten 44. The team successfully chased the target set by the Pune team with 6 wickets and an over to spare.
RCB won the toss and decided to bat. The team made 157 in their allotted overs. RCB looked below par at the halfway stage, but their bowlers did well in the later part of the game.
RCB managed to defend their modest total with the help of some good bowling and finally won by 15 runs. Delhi who seemed to be in charge for most of the game will be introspecting on how they allowed the Bangalore team to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
