So after all the will-they-won’t-they, the exams for class XII boards have been cancelled. First, they postponed board exams and then later they announced that class X boards would be cancelled. Then they refused to take a decision regarding the cancellation or setting dates for XII board exams. Now they’ve blinked and cancelled class twelve board exams.
So exams are cancelled. Finally and students know that they can now concentrate on the various entrance exams without having to deal with the stress of both.
Some students were delighted
They would not have to take their board exams and would pass regardless.
Students can now say this about possible exam results --- now there is no fear of the exams being held.
Teachers who said this about some of their students: only God can pass you. Those students are now believers.
Those who have worked hard all year are bound to feel a sense of anticlimax.
Kids who worked hard and parents who facilitated this at great cost would be disappointed.
Students feel that those sacrifices were made in vain.
Some were reminded of the story of Ranchhodas Chanchad from 3 Idiots.
There are many who feel that this is not a good decision since there is no really way of assessing what and how well kids have learned their course material.
The tweeple are thanking PM for personally taking this decision. Some wondered whether this had anything to do with the fact that kids would become eligible to vote soon.
Some who are disappointed by the decision feel that this was a populist decision.
People pointed out that elections were permitted to proceed at the height of the second wave of the pandemic while exams are cancelled.
The tweeple reminded class XII kids that they shouldn’t be celebrating yet – there are some really tough exams ahead.
Exams may be cancelled but the pandemic is still very much around.
What about a farewell party? This guy wanted to see a particular student in a saree.
People have their own reasons to be delighted about the class XII exams being cancelled. Some have their own reasons not to be.
