A lot of kids haven’t gone to school at all this academic year of 2020-21. Now that schools are opening up slowly and cautiously, it all seems very unusual. Routines have gone for a toss, students have become all too comfortable studying from home and getting into those regular routines will take a lot of getting used to. The school reopening memes of course, are on point
Online classes have been unsatisfying to say the least. It has been the only option but teachers and students seem to have been going through the motions and precious little actual learning took place during this academic year.
Some parents have found it tough having kids at home. Some have loved it.
Is it safe? What will happen when so many kids are in a room for extended periods each day? Will there be a second wave or are we on our way to acquiring herd immunity?
What safety and other protocols will be in place? Will it be mandatory or voluntary to physically attend classes? There is a lot of confusion and apprehension about schools reopening.
It will be difficult – and perhaps uncomfortable being around so many people again all day. There will always be the fear that others around aren’t following hygiene and distancing rules.
Yes, this is going to happen, definitely. Didn’t we all do the ‘drought’ and ‘flood’ and ‘cyclone’ and ‘earth quake’ essays right after we’d experienced such natural calamities?
Will they have a choice in the matter? They already have a difficult job. Schools reopening after such an extended period will only make that job harder.
Kids have grown unused to being around each other. There will be stress and annoyances in class… something more for the teachers to learn to handle.
Students sleep late and wake up just before classes start these days. And then many go right back to bed after having their attendance recorded. Actually getting up, getting dressed, with a back packed will be tough.
Will the old uniforms fit after almost a year? Or will we need uniforms like this? As the memes tell us, going back to school will be difficult after so long.
