First, they told students of classes X and XII that exams would be held in May. However, the worsening situation meant that students asked for #cancelboardexams2021. They decided to listen – partly. So they then went and cancelled the board exams of class X and said mass promotions for all to class XI. On the other hand, they told the students of class XII that their exams would be held – just not when. As of now, students are in limbo – not sure when exams will be held. Or if. So they are trending #cancel12thboardexams2021.
Students are now asking the authorities to take a decision one way or the other: either announce dates or cancel exams altogether.
Class X boards were canceled so why not Class XII as well.
Students are in a precarious situation: They don’t know whether to study for the boards or to prepare for various entrance tests.
There are a lot of pressures on students right now.
Usually, board exams are held in March. It is now May and there is still no clarity about their exams.
Students have been asking for some decision to be made, but the authorities are silent.
Students are neither being listened to, nor are they being consulted. Right now, their lives are in suspended animation.
Students have suffered personal losses and are worried about their futures.
Students are stuck right now – not knowing whether exams will take place at all or when.
They are stressed because the future is really uncertain.
Class X students have been promoted and the same can be done for Class XII as well based on internal assessments. Institutions for further studies can conduct their own entrance exams.
We now know that younger people are more affected during the second wave.
We know that the newer strains of the virus are more infectious. Given this fact, how can in-person exams be held?
Is there really any option but to cancel exams?
Students have their careers to plan for.
