1. Deewar
‘Deewar’ is a story of two brothers who chose different paths in their lives. A few years after the movie released, the Rajinikanth version of ‘Deewar’ came with the name, ‘Thee’. ‘Thee’ had the same story starring Rajinikanth and Suman and proved to be classic in the South.
2. Don
‘Billa’ was the Rajinikanth remake of Amitabh’s ‘Don’. Both the movies were quite successful at the box office, but Rajinikanth was able to taste stardom after this movie. Where Zeenat Aman played the lead role in ‘Don’, Sripriya played the lead role in ‘Billa’.
3. Namak Halal
‘Velaikaran’ as the remake of Amitabh’s super hit movie, ‘Namak Halal’. The Tamil version of ‘Namak Halal’ starred Rajinikanth, Saranth Babu and Amala.
4. Amar, Akbar, Anthony
One of the highest grossing movies of Amitabh, ‘Amar, Akbar, Anthony’ was remade in Tamil with Rajinikanth in the lead role. Directed by Vijaya Nirmala, ‘Ram Robert Rahim’ was inspired by Amar, Akbar, Anthony.
5. Trishul
‘Mr Bharath’ is the Tamil version of ‘Trishul’, another Amitabh Bachchan super hit movie. In the Tamil version, Rajinikanth played the lead role of Amitabh Bachchan and Satyaraj is in the role of Sanjeev Kumar.
6. Laawaris
‘Panakkaran’ is the Tamil remake of famous Bollywood movie, ‘Laawaris’. ‘Laawaris’ was released in 1981 and ‘Panakkaran’ was released in 1990 and both of them were a huge hit at the box office.
7. Khoon Pasina
The Tamil version of ‘Khoon Pasina’ was ‘Siva’. ‘Siva’ was an average grosser at the box office with mixed reviews.
8. Mard
‘Mard’ was a super hit Amitabh movie, but the Tamil version of ‘Mard’, ‘Maaveeran’ got mixed reviews. ‘Mard’ is a story of horse cart driver (who is actually the son of an Indian King) and is a story from pre-independece.
9. Kasme Vaade
Rajinikanth’s ‘Dharmathin Thalaivan’ was actually a remake of, ‘Kasme Vaade’. ‘Kasme Vaade’ which was one of the Amitabh’s most romantic hits.
10. Majboor
Starring Parveen Babi and Big B, ‘Majboor’ was remade in Tamil as ‘Naan Vazhavaippen’. It proved to be a grand hit in the south.
