2020 Going Badly For You? You'll Identify With The #2020Challenge

This year started badly – right from January 2020, there were scary Twitter trends to deal with. Small wonder that people say they hate the year 2020. Now, in August 2020, there still seems to be no cause for cheer – 2020 remains quite dreary for most of us; even many celebs! Reese Witherspoon created her own #2020Challenge to indicate that this year is really not going well – many others took up the ‘challenge’ of course.

Reese Witherspoon’s #2020Challenge

January seemed OK, February gave us an idea of things to come, and then it was all rapidly downhill from then on. Things don’t bode well for the coming months either.

Pandemic, flood, fire, mayhem

The world struggles with a global pandemic, nature decides to show its fury in various ways while human beings add to the sum of our woes.

#2020Challenge

So clearly, #2020worstyear applies to a lot of people out there.

Fine? No!

It seemed to begin on a positive note but that did not last long.

Fed up!

Things don’t seem to be getting any better either.

Many celebrities

It isn't just us the commoners having a bad 2020.

Celebs too

With so much business activity stalled all over the world, the rich and famous seem to be having a bad time of it too. Schadenfreude anyone?

More

Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway and others had their pictures circulating on social media as well.

Meryl Streep

Arguably the finest actor of her generation is also impacted, according to this tweet.

And this

Italian actor Giulio Berruti, starring in Gabriel’s Inferno (something of a heartthrob on social media these days) also finds mention here.

Driven to drink?

Some find that they need to drown their sorrows in alcohol.

Stages of grief?

Actor-activist Michael Sheen seems to be going through the stages of grief here: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.

Not just human

2020 got progressively worse – for humans and their best friends.

Like this

It starts with a cheerful January and then it’s all rapidly downhill.

When you're a villain

Every month is equally awful, presumably.

Improving?

Some people seem to be quite upbeat and they feel that they are past the worst.

Kids too

Obviously these dystopian times, kids are also confused by this changed reality.

#2020 challenge in doodles

The more artistic tweeple used their drawings rather than photos for the #2020 challenge.

Wild!

This year has indeed been wild; and not in a good way. The #2020 challenge is just one way to express collective angst.
