Game of Thrones Season 6 is progressing at a leisurely pace, teasing fans with one disclosure, at a time. From Bran’s tantalising trips to the past that threaten to reveal secrets long buried, to Khaleesi rising from the flames, this might not be the best the series has to offer fans yet, but still it links and de-links many facts. So till George R.R. Martin, and the producers decide to give us something exciting to remember this Season by, let’s take a look at some of the buzzing theories that have kept us on tenterhooks, all this while.

Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark

Episode 5 'Kill The Boy'

Ned Stark never really revealed who Jon’s mother was, and quietly endured the stab of having betrayed Catelyn’s love. Many fans believe that the promise that he gave Lyanna on her death bed, while no one was around, was to take care of her son, born out of her relationship with Rhaegar Targaryen. Ned knew that if he revealed Jon’s parentage, the boy’s life would be in danger, so he kept it a secret, paying his honour as the price for it.

Jon and Daenerys represent Ice and Fire respectively

Given that Jon took the Black, which is cold, and Daenerys is the “Mother of Dragons” and can embrace fire as her blood, this theory might well have substance.

The dragon has three heads

Many believe that the three heads will be Jon, Daenerys, and Tyrion. There has been a subtle hint that our favourite Imp might have dragon blood running inside him. If it stands true, then all three of them are connected by blood, making them the true rulers of Seven Kingdoms, together.

Tyrion is the son of Mad King and Lady Joanna Lannister

This can justify Tywin’s hatred for Tyrion. The books have stated Aerys’s desire towards Joanna, even at the time of her wedding. The fact that Joanna was the handmaiden of the Mad King and his wife, before marrying Tywin is also an ironclad support to this theory. After all, Aerys II was notorious for being a womaniser, and given the nature of the series, it seems hard to believe that he let go of a maiden as beautiful as Joanna.

Bran was the reason Aerys II went mad

Bran’s time travel powers have been indicated quite a many times already, and it seems that he is not quite the invisible while being in the past as he should be. His whispers are audible and he can be visible to few too (don’t want to give out spoilers here). It’s a plausible theory that Bran might have set in motion the chain of events while he tried warning Aerys II about what was to come, driving the king insane and thus earning him the title of Mad King, as he was hearing whispers from the air.

Interesting, aren’t they? What are the theories that you have heard about our favourite Tele series? Let us know in the comments below.
