When it comes to stereotyping, the people who are targeted the most in our country are the North East Indians. But how much do you know about them before you comment on them? Well, if you don’t already have a close friend from that region, allow us to break some stereotypes and help you understand our eastern brothers and sisters better:

Their cuisine contains so much more than Momos

If you ever visited North East India, you will know how amazing the food there is. Their authentic dishes are a must have and if you are not able to find anything more than Momos, go to your North Eastern friend’s place for dinner.

All the tiny eye jokes

Having tiny eyes is like the trademark of being a North Eastern in India. But only they know how difficult it is to deal with them when they are out in sunlight. It’s even worse when people laugh about it, or crack silly jokes.

Straight hair issues

A lot of girls envy the North Easterners for their straight and silky hair, but for them it’s a lot of hassle. Yes, they have that beautifully straight hair naturally but to deal with them is a lot different than you can think.

Racism

Wherever North East Indians go, racism follows! Well, people call them Chinki, Chinese, Japanese and even asked if they have problems identifying each other which is sickening to a whole other level. But, whatever the comments North Easterners deal with all maintaining their dignity. Hats off to those smiling faces.

They are as Indian as you!

A lot of North Easterners feel like they are from another country, especially when they are in North or South India. Yes the cultures within our country are very different, but we cannot allow our own people to like foreigners in their own country. They are Indian and we are glad.
