Though visiting a mysterious place can be scary, it sure can be exciting as well. I’m also sure that many of you would want to visit such mysterious and haunted places (though only during the day time and that too with a group of friends). So, to satiate your curiosity, here are five of the most thrilling mysteries of India.
1. Mass Bird Suicide – Jatinga, Assam
While it may sound a bit odd, believe me, this unusual event is even weirder than you think. In Assam, there is a village called Jatinga where numerous birds commit suicide, or rather just fall dead. This mass bird suicide usually happens on moonless nights, especially in the months of September and October.
2. Brij Raj Bhavan Palace – Kota, Rajasthan
It has been reported that at this palace lives a ghost who likes to slap guards whenever they doze off on duty. This ghost, acting like a supervisor, apparently belongs to Major Burton who was murdered during the mutiny of 1857.
3. Dumas Beach – Gujarat
The famous Dumas Beach has proven to be a nightmare for some. Walking alone at this beach at night is strictly not advisable as, in the past, there have been reports of people going missing from this beach, without a trace.
4. Bhangarh Fort – Rajasthan
Bhangarh Fort is a place that even the Archaeological Survey of India advises people not to visit before dawn. This fort is said to be cursed and, even during the day, one can feel an ominous air around it. It’s said that anyone who enters the fort at night, might never come back.
5. Magnetic Hill – Ladakh
With this, let’s end things on a lighter note. There is a hill in Ladakh where cars, instead of going downhill, actually ascend up. Popularly known as the ‘Himalayan Wonder’, this hill is believed to be magnetic.
