We all get fascinated by the lifestyle of royal families. I mean, not everyone is born with a silver spoon but some of those who were, have done really crazy things too. Here are some lesser known facts that I am sure will leave you speechless.
1. Classic shoe tale
In the 20th century, the most famous Italian shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo made 100 shoes for Maharani Indira Devi. And some of them were diamond studded. Well, it’s hard for me to afford even 5 basic stone studded shoes.
2. The one with the tragic life
The most beautiful queen with a tragic life tale. Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur lost her husband while he was playing Polo and after that, she lost her child in a few years. Hats off to the lady for handling her whole family on her own.
3. The one with the brutal heart
King Ashoka killed his 99 brothers for the throne and left one alive just to make him his deputy king.
4. The cursing tale
The Mysore empire was taken over by the Wadiyar dynasty after killing the king and soon they were cursed by that king’s queen before she committed suicide. It led to the downfall of the Wadiyar dynasty but later the statue of the dead queen was installed and worshiped. The statue is present in the palace till date.
5. A pretty heavy trip to England
Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II carried a huge sterling vessel of Ganga Jal with him to his trip to England.
6.Blind love for money
The Nizam of Hyderabad had unconditional love for his money so he hid his money in his car’s trunk from the government and later it got infested by termites and moths.
7. The only out-of-the-closet
The only Royal who accepted in public that he was gay is Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil. Sadly though, he later got disowned by his own family.
