Amazing Indie Music Bands That You Have To Listen At Least Once

Indie bands aren't a new sensation, but are booming nowadays. Famous bands like Radiohead, Pavement, Neutral Milk Hotel and plenty of others have been around for a while and their successes have inspired a new sound to originate to heighten the thrills one expects from 'alternative' or 'post-punk' labels.

But a number of new emerging Indie bands have established a fan-following in the West and are now drawing ear-buds in Asia too. Let's take a look.

1. The 1975

The English Rock band is heavily reliant on rhythm guitar and have been producing some consistently good music ever since they got together in 2002. Singles such as ' Falling For You' and 'Me' established them as a truly groovy Indie enclosure.

2. Vampire Weekend

For starters, they've got a heavy metal sort of name but that doesn't compromise the texture and lyrical note of the albums they've produced, 3 to be specific in a decade of coming into formation. Vampire Weekend even struck a decent note with the Grammy's, winning one for the 'best alternative music album' in 2014. This is an Indie band which is a force to reckon with.

3. The Strokes

Synonymous with producing constantly striking and appealing Indie kind of sound for a good two decades, The Strokes have been around for a while now and have struck the right chord with both fans and critics. At times, their lyrical entourages weigh on stuff got to do with the philosophical idea of life, which only lends more gravitas to their music.

4. Alt J

5. The XX

A refreshing change for an Indie band with girl power in the centre, The XX not only got heavy praise from British daily 'The Guardian' with their debut album but even won the Mercury Music Prize for 'xx'. A synchronization of excellent vocals and electronic sound inspires The XX's creativity.

6. Bombay Bicycle Club

How about a band with an 'Indianized' sort of name and quintessential India music sound! The British band of 4 has been producing some inspiring and exhilarating sound for over a decade. In fact, if you listen in to tracks like 'Luna' and 'Always Like This' you can hear the sound of the Tabla. Interested?

7. The Vaccines

Easily among the most famous and most followed Indie group, The Vaccines hail from West London, but have got all Indie music aficionados listening in to them big and easy. Their early claim to glory was standing up for the opening acts of established giants like the Rolling Stones and Radiohead and The Vaccines have consistently upped the Indie sound ever since 2011. 

8. Kodaline

Finally, there comes about an Irish Indie band just when you thought England had put its tag on the Indie sound factory. The intoxicating power of Kodaline is such that it draws you to their melancholic melodies and groovy lyrics, both enticing values of this 4 year old band. Hits like 'All I want' and 'High Hopes' stand out from their pantheon of hits.
