Big Bang Theory Announces End – Everyone’s Emotional – Not!

Among American sitcoms the Big Bang Theory is particularly beloved. The serial about all geeky stereotypes, starring a man playing a character half his age is a surprisingly huge hit. It was recently announced that the series would be airing its final season and that Season 12 would be the end of a long and incredibly successful run. People obviously had some rather emotional reactions.

The show will end in 2019

One of the longest running sitcoms in the US history will air its last season starting 24 September, which will end in May, concluding the 12 season long series.

Award winning show

The series was nominated for 46 Emmys and went on to win 7, with lead actor Jim Parsons being nominated for best actor four times. The show that averaged over 18 million viewers per year will draw to an ‘epic creative close’ said a statement by the producers.

Many are sad

Having followed the trials and tribulations of Sheldon, Penny, Leonard, Howard, Raj, Bernadette, Amy and the others for so long, countless viewers are sad that the series will air for the last time in Season 12.

Mixed emotions

The series has already lasted longer than most, so its conclusion was perhaps inevitable and expected. Many viewers think that creatively speaking as well, this is a good time for the series to end.

Not everyone is a fan

The show thrived on stereotypes, often made off color jokes about race, gender and other issues. It does seem strange that so many viewers seemed perfectly fine with this, this tweet suggests.

‘Outdated’ laughter track

Another grouse that many viewers have against the series is the laughter track; which is often too loud and irritating. It’s a sort of cue-for-morons thing – an indication to laugh now in case one was too dim to get the jokes.

Earlier seasons were better

This is a popular view; that the earlier seasons of the Big Bang Theory were funnier and better. Later the jokes weren’t as funny and the plot seemed rather forced. The novelty was lost and the show seemed to be going along predictable lines in the later seasons.

The actors seem more emotional

Kaley Couco who plays Penny said the show had been life changing and that its end would be heartbreaking for her. Kunal Nayyar who plays Raj Koothrapalli was quoted as expressing these emotional sentiments "There are no words in any language that can describe what my heart wants to say. The love I feel for all of you is boundless".

Quitting while you're ahead?

There are reports that some of the lead actors are now ready to move on. According to other reports, there are good reasons why the series producers decided to end the series now. Perhaps it is a good idea to end things, at a time when the show still has good ratings and people are still asking why instead of when.
