We see Shahid Kapoor back in a film after quite a while. Having done significant films such as Kaminey, Udta Punjab, Shahid, frothy, lighthearted films like Jab We Met and completely crazy ones like Shandaar, we expect something worth watching from him each time. Kapoor will be seen next in Kabir Singh, a drama set to release on 21st June 2019.
This is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy; starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. The film tells the story of a surgeon who becomes self-destructive after a relationship went wrong. The titular character Kabir is seen battling alcoholism and substance abuse, uncontrollable rage and other issues after Advani’s character Preeti marries someone else.
Those that have seen the original Telugu movie say that it appears to be a faithful reproduction. Director Sandeep Vanga is confident of the Hindi version being even more ‘hard-hitting’ than the original.
The film promises to be a passionate story about an unfulfilled love; about how relationships are not easy and why love can be so hard.
Kapoor receives appreciation for his rendition of the tortured, out-of-control lover in the film.
The anger, aggression, violence portrayed in the film seems to endorse a toxic masculinity felt some people. Responding to the charge, Kapoor said that films sometimes portray imperfect people and in the process warn viewers about the perils of toxic behaviours.
In particular, it was this rather outrageous scene in the film's trailer that prompted a lot of memes.

The uncontrollable rage of the film’s protagonist seems to be an important story arc. This has also prompted a lot of meme makers to offer us their own take.
