Sacred Games isn’t just the first original Netflix India series, but also among the darkest, grittiest of all TV series ever made in India. The first season starred Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Pankaj Tripathi and other. It got rave reviews as a ‘gorgeous, grim and unexpected’ show with ‘dense plotting’ and a ‘superb cast’. The edgy, dark and layered narrative pulled viewers in to binge-watch the 8 episodes and long for more. Now, a year after the first season, the trailer of Sacred Games Season 2 released. Check out the trailer and reactions:
Season 2 promises that “the game's bigger, the stakes are higher, and the players are ready.” Sacred Games Season 2 premieres 15 August, only on Netflix. Season 2 is shot extensively in Mombasa, Cape Town and Johannesburg as well as Mumbai and Nairobi.
There is a wealth of viewing options on Netflix, but this is the one people had been waiting for.
The release date of season 2 is 15 August, a public holiday and it coincides with some big Bollywood releases as well.
The series is realistic and not hesitant to feature crude, profane language or nudity. A lot of people are looking forward to the story being taken forward.
Netflix put out a tweet asking people to stop threatening them now that the second season trailer is out and the release date announced. Fans told them not to be too dramatic.
…And also hinted at things to come in season 2.
It seems that we will see yet another facet of this highly complex and hateful yet strangely sympathetic character played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Pankaj Tripathi as Guruji was one of the most chilling but mysterious characters of the first season. The second season promises to tell us more about him; a character who could be pivotal to this story.
Anurag Kashyap will also direct this season but Neeraj Ghaywan replaces Vikramaditya Motwane who co-directed season one. Like season one, Varun Grover, Smita Singh and Vasant Nath have adapted Vikram Chandra’s book for the screen.
The second season of the Netflix will also see Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey, Harshita Gaur and Sobhita Dhulipala (of Made in Heaven).
Meme makers are happy!
Since it first released, the plot lines, the dialogues and the characters of Sacred Games became fodder for numerous memes. Why should season 2 be any different?
