We last saw Tapsee Pannu with Amitabh Bachchan in Pink, a gripping, vital film about complex issues such as misogyny, consent and sexual abuse. This time around, we see the two actors together in Badla which releases on 8th March 2019. It promises to be an exciting whodunit thriller. The film trailer dropped to positive responses. It had over 9 million views in less than 24 hours; becoming the top trending video on YouTube. Here is what the tweeple said about it:
The crime thriller was shot largely in Glasgow, Scotland. It stars Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. The film is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment along with Azure Entertainment (Gauri Khan, Gaurav Verma, Sunir Khetarpal, Akshai Puri).
The movie has prompted highly positive responses. People who enjoy murder mysteries and Amitabh Bachchan fans appear to be waiting eagerly for this one.
According to this tweet from Sr Bachchan’s twitter handle, the truth is in front of the eyes but the gaze is on lies. He describes the film as “twisted truth trapped in a web of lies”.
Celebs as well as the hoi polloi have hailed the trailer which has evoked sharp curiosity about the villain of the piece.
The film is said to be a remake of the 2016 Spanish thriller film Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest available on Netflix). While some feel that it’s a good thing that a gripping film is made for Indian audiences, others feel that Bollywood should get out of its habit of copying and do more original stuff.
The trailer gives us a good idea but hints at a lot more; as a good trailer of a good murder mystery ought to do.
This line of Bachchan in the film triggered a flood of memes. Apparently this is also what students say when asked for help during an exam.
The film is about Naina (Pannu) who is accused of the murder of her lover and hires a lawyer (Bachchan) for her defence. The film also stars Tony Luke, Manav Kaul and Amrita Singh and promises to be a story with a lot of twists and turns.
The interactions between the accused and her lawyer in the trailer have inspired plenty of memes.
Some of the tweeple thought that some of the scenes of the film, which is largely shot in the UK, were reminiscent of the Harry Potter films.
We all have become so utterly reliant on Google that we trust what the search engine tells us implicitly, don’t we?
Students taking difficult exams such as engineering or CA also thought that this tweet was applicable to them
