Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi
It was the time of big hair and baggy pants, but fashion faux pas notwithstanding; this was just a lovely romantic film. The movie is about the fun, feisty and romantic girl who falls for the guy she hired to take her to the guy she loves. Sounds convoluted? It isn’t. Aamir Khan is lovable, Pooja Bhatt is irresistible and Anupam Kher as the father urging his daughter to run away from her own wedding is utterly adorable.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
If not because it is a lovely story of selfless love, watch the movie for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-esque spectacle and the beautiful music. Watch Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai at their most attractive; watch the unfolding of a true, deeper love that triumphs over youthful infatuation.
Jab We Met
The ebullient, bubbly young woman (Kareena Kapoor), the troubled, grim faced young man (Shahid Kapoor), their unlikely journey together and their evolution into different individuals… this movie is a delightful, modern love story; watchable for so many reasons including some of Hindi cinema’s best floor fillers.
Love Aaj Kal
This is a movie about two love stories set in different times and very different sensibilities. It features a love guru of sorts who tells his own love story, a dawning realisation of love and some very upbeat and enjoyable melodies. Saif Ali Khan in a unique double role, Deepika Padukone in a wonderfully heart tugging role and the irrepressible Rishi Kapoor doling out love advice. Go get that DVD.
Rockstar
So this is a tragedy that may have you weeping in his or her arms in the end; but it’s all good; they’ll get to know your caring, vulnerable side. The chemistry between the pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri, the superb music, beautiful locales and a passionate, unstoppable, ultimately doomed love story is a winner for Valentine’s Day.

Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane star in Sanam Teri Kasam and Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam, Rishi Kapoor and Urvashi Rautela star in Sanam Re.
