The Hindu as well as Greek mythologies are both quite old. And while it can be argued that they both are a lot different from each other, there are a few Indian gods who actually may have ‘inspired’ some of those found in Greek mythology in many ways. So, read on to know more about them.

Indra and Zeus

These two deities of different mythologies have a lot in common. Indra is the king of gods and heaven and has the power of lightening as well. Whereas Zeus is also quite the same, his primary power is also the bolt of lightning. Both of these deities also have troubled relations with their families. Coincidence?  I think not.

Shiva and Ares

Though not entirely related, but the Hindu god Shiva and the Greek god Ares do have things in common. They both are incredibly powerful and represent war, destruction and fire.

Yama and Hades

Both Yama and Hades are perhaps the gods whom not many people commonly worship. They both are the gods of the underworld who have a better sense of judgment as they judge the souls of those who have passed on from our world.

Saraswati and Athena

Though obviously different in some ways, these two goddesses do have other characteristics in common, thereby giving them a resemblance to one another. They both represent the power of knowledge, wisdom and courage.

Lakshmi and Hera

These two are the goddesses representing a position of power and privilege. Just like the goddess Lakshmi who represents wealth and prosperity in life, goddesses Hera also symbolizes the same things.

So what do you think?
