The COVID 19 lockdown ended up messing up movie release schedules all over the world. A lot of movies slated for release were shelved almost indefinitely. For instance, the latest James Bond film, No Time to Die was to be released in April of 2020 but got pushed back twice and will release only in October of 2021. Similarly, the Marvel movie Black Widow was also pushed back. Now we have a flurry of upcoming Marvel content – a movie as well as several series that will release on OTT platforms. Here are the trailers:
The first two episodes of this miniseries were aired on January 15th where we see Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) and Vision leading old-fashioned suburban lives in black &white. As the series progresses we see popular TV tropes and the couple realising that things are not what they seem. Six episodes have released so far and there is a seventh that releases on 19th Feb on the Disney Hotstar platform.
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are Sam Wilson / Falcon and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier respectively in this series. After the exit of Captain America from the scene, the shield passes literally and figuratively to Winter Soldier who teams up with Falcon to battle baddies called the Flag-Smashers. The six-part series will come to Disney Hotstar on 19 March 2021.
This movie was slated to release on 1st May 2020 which it didn’t. The movie about Natasha Romanoff or the Black Widow is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016). In this movie, the ex-KGB assassin teams up with her family members to take on the bad guys. The movie is now slated for release in theatres on 7th May 2021.
This one is about Loki the shape-shifting maverick stepbrother of Thor. Tom Hiddleston stars in this Disney + Hotstar series that will release in May 2021. Though it is meant to have six episodes, there could be more as we saw with WandaVision. The series is set after the events of 2019 movie Avengers Endgame.
This is an animated series that comes to Disney + Hotstar later this year. This explores 'what if' the possible outcomes if major events of the MCU had occurred differently. So what if Captain American had been a woman and British? Or if it was T'Chala and not Star Lord who had been taken. The series is centred around Uatu / The Watcher (who belongs to an extraterrestrial race) voiced by Jeffrey Wright. The Watcher observes the events of the MCU and sometimes intervenes. As the trailers indicate, there is a lot for Marvel fans to look forward to in the months to come.
