Eid Mubarak! Yes we know the government changed the date to tomorrow at the last minute, but the way we see it we can celebrate Eid for two days now! Since Eid is such a big festival for us, we thought it’s the best day to analyse why Indians make such a big deal our of every festival. In most of the big countries they will have maybe four big festival like events, but in India it is said, that everyday there is a festival being celebrated in some part of the nation with much fanfare.
- A festival brings us happiness and there is excitement in the air
Festivals are the only time when we are permitted by our parents to stay out late with friends, eat what we want and shop like maniacs.
- Gifts and gifts and even more gifts
Who doesn’t like gifts? And we accept and demand gifts at every given opportunity. So a festival usually means we start making space for the new stuff we are going to get.
- Holiday!!!
No school, no college, and for some no office. So yay! Festivals help us to get much needed rest in the middle of the week.
- The Pakwaans will drive your taste buds and you, crazy!
Kebabs, Sheermaal, Sevaiyaan, Gujia, Mithaai, Poori-Halwa…can’t go on. Must hunt down something to eat. But there is always awesome food associated to every festival.
- Time of togetherness

Friends and family together
This is the time of meet and greet. Getting together with friends and family to have a good time, enjoy some healthy competition and some genuine catching up.
- Festival campaigns run by retailers and e-tailers
From ‘Up to 50% off’ to ‘Flat 50% off’ to sometimes ‘Flat 75% off on selected merchandise’, it can get very interesting for shopping enthusiasts.
- Festivals show the true secular feeling of the common man
To the common man and woman in India, it never matters whether they are a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or a Christian. Everybody comes together and celebrates all festivals with happiness and joy.
