There was a time when I thought Marvel could do no wrong – in the eyes of their fans at least. Everything they made, the audiences lapped up and practically every film bettered the previous one in terms of collections, social media reactions and so on. Now however, the Eternals seems to have drawn the ire of Marvel fans. Check out the Eternals trailer as well as the reasons for the less than enthusiastic reviews/ reactions:
The Eternals are a race of superheroes charged to protect the world against the Deviants. They have emerged after thousands of years according to the comics. Principal characters are played by Gemma Chan (Sersi), Richard Madden (Ikaris), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo) and others; the film also stars Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie and Kit Harrington.
Negative reviews feel that the movie is trying to push a ‘woke’ agenda and is catering to a particular audience by concentrating too much on diversity and representation.
By all accounts, this movie is different from other Marvel movies.
For some this is a departure from the norm for Marvel and a good thing. For others it’s a bad thing.
However they are still leaving poor reviews because their ideology or belief system may conflict with the movie’s content.
Well-meaning, baffling are some of the terms used by reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes.
They didn’t really care what the film was like – it’s a good looking film.
This commentator also doesn’t really care about the average reviews – because the reason for watching the movie may be different.
It is different from standard Marvel fare, but is still good and very watchable they say.

Until now it was Thor: The Dark World and Black Widow that had received the worst reviews. Now it is Eternals. Some aren't interested because they didn’t like Endgame which had received rave reviews.
Dudebros are giving it the thumbs down, say some of the tweeple… which means it’s actually good.
A lot of people feel that Eternals is getting a lot of undeserved flak for having Marvel's first ever gay character. For some this is just a reason to watch the movie – more than once.
This reviewer had good things to say about the movie but also had some reservations. It is predicted that this Eternals film sets up an exciting future for the MCU. Seeing all the contradictory reviews, I plan to watch the film this weekend – and decide for myself.
