Gal Gadot Is Back and So Is Chris Pine in the Trailer of Wonder Woman 1984

In recent years, superhero films have become very mainstream; garnering a very strong fan following. I myself sort of got drafted into the fandom when I watched Wonder Woman at the behest of my girls. We are to have the second Wonder Woman film – the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer just dropped and everyone is interested to see what Gal Gadot and Chris Pine (yes he died in the first film, but apparently he's back) will do next.

Wonder Woman 1984 – Official Trailer

“Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big-screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah,” says the explanation below the trailer. The film appears to be set in the time of the Cold War.

Anticipation

The film is set for release in June 2020 and many can hardly wait.

Wonder Woman 1984 posters

Like the first Wonder Woman film, it is directed by Patty Jenkins. Gal Gadot plays the title role with Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.

Return of Steve Trevor

People are delighted that Chris Pine, who supposedly died in the previous film returns in this one – and hasn’t aged in the intervening decades.

Return of the Amazons

The trailer also promises a return of the Amazons of Thermyscira.

Who is Cheetah?

Cheetah or Barbara Ann Minerva is the villain; Diana Prince’s friend turned foe. This character is a British archaeologist who unearths an ancient ritual and becomes the Cheetah goddess.

Maxwell Lord

This is another negative character in the film and is played by Chilean American actor Pedro Pascal.

Future of DC

While the Marvel Universe or MCU is known to have a larger overall fan following, DC commands as formidable a following. Fans have some big DCEU films to look forward to.

Wow!

Predictably, a lot of the tweeple were blown away by the trailer.

The theme

The first film was set around the World War.

Blue Monday

The trailer features the iconic 1980s track --- a song representative of the time that the movie is set in.

2020 will be interesting

There are other women oriented films coming out next year – tweeple are excited.

Someone pointed this out

We also saw what appeared to be CCTV cameras in the trailer – doesn’t seem very 1980s, so one wonders if this is a film that goes back and forward in time; maybe even up to the present day. There should be a second trailer of Wonder Woman 1984 that will shed light on the story soon
