The merest scrap of information about the next season, the prequel, the trailer or anything to do with Game of Thrones, sends fans into paroxysms of delighted anticipation. Now the makers of the madly successful medieval fantasy series have made some announcements about GOT, fans who were sad about the impending end of the series with the eighth and final season have much cause to cheer.
People just cannot have enough of GOT. So desolate were the fans about the end-in-sight that the makers decided that they had to give the folks more. To put it in language that GOT aficionados will get, all shows must die… then come back for a prequel.
HBO has announced that it has ordered a pilot for a prequel to the show. The prequel will be set thousands of years before the time that the events of the current GOT show took place. There may be as many as 5 spin-offs.
The prequel will deal with "the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour," according to reports. The world will hopefully know more about the history of the warring families of Westeros.
There are a lot of things that remain unexplained in the GOT series, hopefully all will be revealed in the prequel.
Like I said, people are pathetically grateful for any scraps of information that they throw out about this series. This is literally how excited fans are right now.
She is one of 5 screenwriters that had been commissioned by HBO for possible GOT spinoffs. It is now announced that Goldman will be credited with the teleplay of the prequel and that she will be the show runner as well.
After season 7 ended there was a ton of speculation about one of the characters being the night king. However, it is possible that the prequel will have something to do with Bran the Builder, the original founder of the House of Stark.
People are brushing up on their GOT trivia to find possible hints that could tell us more about what the prequel will be about. It is also possible that we could see something of Lann the Clever; of Lannister fame.
People are worried as well. Could this mean that we won’t have any closure in Season 8 of the series? Because the makers want to keep us hooked for the spin-offs? Also, people want to know: will the books ever end!
The Game of Thrones wrap-up party was held in Belfast, Ireland recently. This marked the end of the shooting for Season 8. People were excited (goodness, so much excitement) about seeing the Khal and the Khaleesi together after such a long time and about other cast members who made it to the merriment.
To temper all the excitement however, it is important to remember that only a pilot of the prequels is in the works. There is no telling whether the spinoff series will actually happen. If they do happen, they will happen only in the dim and distant future; at least a year after the original GOT goes off air after its final season in 2019. How's that to dim all the excitment!
