Gulab Jamun Samosa and Cramosa? Say It Ain’t So!

Oh, will the food crimes never stop! They’ve been doing unmentionable things with Maggi noodles and dreaming up awful sweet-savoury combinations. They told us about a gulab jamun subzi and Brownie Paan, Fanta Omelette, Oreo Pakoda and numerous other food crimes. Now we are informed about the existence of a gulab jamun samosa and something called a cramosa.

The gulab jamun samosa

It is a gulab jamun stuffed into the shell of a samosa and fried. I actually don’t think this would taste at all bad. It might taste something like a khaja – crisp on the outside and sweet and soft on the inside.

And now this

It is a cramosa – a croissant, but also a samosa. It is clearly in the croissant price bracket and not the samosa price bracket.

What?

What is that!

At Costas, Delhi Airport

And why not! If a croissant can be stuffed with cheese, or a chicken mixture or even chocolate, why not a samosa filling?

Some were not amused

They were like – why?

Some

Had an even more extreme reaction to the cramosa.

The reaction

The reaction of the samosa lover and the croissant lover – same!

Not bad

Spicy croissant – or veg puff? Well one sounds a little more glamorous than the other – all the better to attach a high price tag to it.

Where’s the filling?

The image shows how they’ve been rather stingy in terms of the filling – and as this tweet points out, Rs. 170 could buy one a decent biryani.

Someone pointed this out

That Rs. 170 price tag is without taxes.

Don’t fix…

…What ain't broke. I myself adore croissants – light, buttery, flaky! I don’t know what that is, but that is not a croissant.

True story

All these people dreaming up absurd food combinations – they do it to be different, unique, eye-catching, not because the resulting dish is tasty or even edible.

Why?

Why is this thing on my timeline?

It’s business

McDonald’s has the aloo tikki burger, KFC’s famous 13 spices made way for the hot and spicy fried chicken, Dominos offers tandoori chicken and paneer tikka pizza. When in India, do as the Indian palate demands, explained some of the tweeple.

Some…

…Just wanted to unsee the cramosa and the julab jamum samosa and all of the other food crimes. Me, I say bring it on – the more food crimes, the more content!
