Itching for Some Stage Spectaculars? Head to the Dubai Opera!

As Dubai residents know, the global city isn’t just all swanky malls and shopping deals. There is much on offer for those looking for that thrill-a-minute amusement park as well as museums and architectural attractions. Plus there are live acts by some of the finest performers from all over the world. The Dubai Opera recently announced 6 such acts as part of the new season. There is something there for everyone.

Dubai Opera

Ever since 2016, since the Dubai Opera opened up in Downtown Dubai in the Opera District, the performing arts location has been offering up stellar performances by various world acts. The first ever act here was performance by world famous Spanish tenor, Placido Domingo. The 2000 seat Dubai Opera will soon be bringing audiences some more amazing shows:

Arabs are Not Funny

Those with a taste for comedy will enjoy this line up of standup comics. Various international comics will perform observational comedy and cross cultural humour that the local people as well as expats would enjoy. Omar Hamdi, Fatiha El Ghorri, Nabil Abdulrashid and Maria Shehata are announced to be a part of the lineup.

Guy Manoukian

He is a Lebanese American musician composer and pianist, who is classically trained but who also brings a wonderful amalgam of musical traditions together via his music. Western as well as eastern instruments are used in his stunning acts that draw on a range of diverse musical traditions. His performance in November will include some classical pieces and Arabic classics.

Miloš Karadaglić

This young man from Montenegro coaxes some of the most beautiful sounds out of his stringed instrument. He is on at the Dubai Opera also this November. His performance will feature The Voice of the Guitar which is a collection of pieces that represent his musical journey.

British rock band Feeder

Brit expats will especially enjoy this gig which is also scheduled for later in November 2018 when the band will feature all their hits from the 1990s and later. The Welsh Japanese rock band has had a dedicated following since 1994 and has sold over 5 million records. Enjoy Come Back Around, one of their top hits from 2002.

Nutcracker and I

This is a unique multimedia performance that includes live music, ballet and digital animation performed and produced by Alexandra Dariescu. This comes to the Dubai Opera this December.

BBC Proms

The Proms have been described as "the world's largest and most democratic musical festival". The orchestral music concerts aim to bring classical music to a wider audience and will be coming to Dubai Opera in March 2019.
