The most recent James Bond film, No Time to Die was to release last year during summer, but the first wave of the global COVID pandemic put paid to those plans. This is the 25th James Bond film and Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as 007. The film has finally hit theatres and here’s what people are saying about it:
Daniel Craig plays James Bond of course and there is the marvellous Rami Malek playing the Bond villain Lyutsifer Safin. Léa Seydoux is Madeleine Swann a psychiatrist and Bond’s love interest and Lashana Lunch is Nomi the new 00 agent.
Last year, there was there was meme circulating – about it being ‘no time to die’ along with the film poster. We were all to remain indoors; why the release of film No Time to Die was postponed
Chills, spills, thrills – all to be expected in a Bond film, after all.
Sean Connery was the first Bond. He passed away last year. The film pays tribute to him as well.
...Said the Times. I am not a Bond fan, but I do admit that the character has evolved with the times that Craig’s essaying the role brought gravitas to the whole genre.
It would not be an overstatement to say that the whole franchise has been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Craig’s Bond is a whole other person from the condescending misogynist that Connery’s Bond was back in the day.
Viewers also largely give their approval to the film.
Ana de Armas is Paloma in the film: the "irresponsible" and "bubbly" CIA agent assisting Bond. The tweeple are ready for a spinoff featuring her character.
The Triumph Scrambler 1200 and Tiger 900 motorcycles feature in this film.
While the reviews are largely positive, it is important to remember that this is a long film at nearly three hours in length. And a lot of people didn’t like the end.
#NoTimeToDie was trending and so was #NoTimeForSpoilers – because spoilers --- well they spoil.
A lot of names are being bandied about as the new Bond to replace Daniel Craig. For a while, it was thought that we could see a female Bond. Idris Alba, Tom Hardy, Dev Patel and many other names are being considered.
Various reviewers describe No Time to Die as "an epic barnstormer" delivered "with terrific panache" and with "pathos, action, drama, camp comedy, heartbreak, macabre horror, and outrageously silly old-fashioned action". I'm tempted to watch this one. I think I will.
