I went and watched Jumanji The Next Level last weekend so I can tell you this is true: Nick Jonas makes his (rather belated) entry into the movie at a fairly crucial moment in the narrative. This is also the moment when one or more people in the theatre will yell Jiju or Damadji or words to that effect. It was kind of cute. Priyanka Chopra thought it was hilarious.
“Thank you for all the love,” tweeted Chopra
People thought this was all really cute. Many shared that they had had similar experiences in the theatre.
There was in fact cheering in the theatre when Jonas entered the frame.
However, there admittedly was disappointment this time because ‘Jiju’ appears rather late in the film and has a much smaller role than the previous Jumanji film.
Other may go to watch the Rock, the special effects or whatever else in the movie. Indians go to watch Nick Jonas.
Jonas is referred to as either epithet based on the age of the spectator.
When people get over their silly tittering over the age difference between the two, they remember that theirs is a heart warming love story.
The two overcame vast geographical and cultural differences to come together.
PC is hugely beloved in India; ergo, so is her husband.
Nick Jonas comes across as a nice guy – respectful and just nice.
The Jonas Brothers are well liked in India. One of them married a GoT star, the other one married one of India’s biggest stars and the biggest Bollywood export. What’s not to like!
There were a few discordant notes in the thread below Priyanka Chopra’s tweet about audience reactions to Nick Jonas in Jumanji. However, for the most part the tweets were positive and affectionate. So unusual --- and refreshing on a typically acrimonious platform such as Twitter!
