K-Pop fans are a force to reckon with – in terms of numbers, loyalty and their ability to mobilise (as we saw in the case of the hijacking of the #AllLivesMatter hashtag). So when one K-pop fan got the ball rolling with a tweet about ‘When You Accidentally Type’ along with a short video clip, many joined in. And if I use emoji and emoticon interchangeably, it’s only because I haven’t a clue why and how the two are different.
It happens to all of us: we type a series of emoticons, but one of those is not quite matching. So this K-pop fan created a short video to match that.
You want to send a series of happy /smiling/ laughing faces to convey your appreciation/enjoyment of something. Then one unhappy/ crying/ sad emoji sneaks in there and the recipient is quite puzzled.
You want to express sympathy or sadness and a happy smiley gets in there somewhere – how embarrassing!
Sometimes it could be a completely unrelated related emoticon such as a coffin – which of course reminded the tweeple of the now-famous dancing Ghanaian pallbearers.
People had their own interpretations of the different emoticons that people often mistakenly use.
Apparently this emoji looks like Donkey from the Shrek films.
This is a pretty good approximation of those exaggerated teeth.
Joey and the amazed/shocked emoji – same-same!
Well Arijit does sing a lot of very sad songs so this one is really quite accurate as well.
Clearly some Hindi TV soap character was the inspiration for this emoji.
A kitten with pleading eyes most certainly inspired this one.
The official Twitter handle of the IPL team seems to be having dreams about winning the next trophy.
This tweet is a hat tip to the GOAT (greatest of all time) Sachin Tendulkar.
Obviously they have a different scenario in mind.
Of course, the tweeple had to mention the star-studded team that has inexplicably never won the IPL tournament. Maybe this is meant to say that when you accidentally type the ‘loser’ emoticon, RCB would be its closest approximation.
