Kapil Sharma Making a Comeback – And Getting Married!

The life and times of India's best known funny man Kapil Sharma has provided fodder for the gossip columns for years now: his meteoric rise to success, his public fights with colleagues, substance abuse problems and the abrupt cancellation of his shows. His relationship setbacks were also common news.  Kapil Sharma has had his fans as well as his detractors; he is now in the news again and things seemed to be looking up for him:

The Kapil Sharma Show promo

The minute long promo from Sony attempts to forge an emotional connect with audiences. It speaks about the comedy show uniting people and creating unlikely friendships; even bringing together traditional foes. The new season airs on 23rd December 2018.

His fans are delighted

All the people who would expectantly congregate with family before the TV at show time are delighted that the Kapil Sharma show is set to return. Fans from India, Bangladesh, Nepal and elsewhere have also tweeted how delighted they are that the show is set to return.

Because nothing else will do

For a number of people, Kapil Sharma's show was the best and nothing could take its place. Laughter is the best medicine and that medicine is best provided by Kapil and his motley crew.

What do we expect?

There are some who want the original team back, however, this may not be the case. As of now we know that Kiku Sharda, Sumona Chakravarti, Chandan Prabhakar and Bharti Singh from the previous versions will be a part of the show. Former colleague Sunil Grover, with whom Sharma had a bitter and very public falling out has his own show now and is unlikely to be a part of the new season.

Not expecting much?

While the reactions to the new season have been overwhelmingly positive, there are those who have low expectations. After all, Sharma is known for his rather low brow humour that relies heavily on ‘jokes’ that target women, prejudice and disability.

The other big news

Kapil Sharma also announced his upcoming nuptials via this tweet. Sharma is to tie the knot with long-term girlfriend Ginni Chatrath on 12 December 2018. She famously supported him and prayed for him during his difficult times.

People are delighted

Some fans would like to see the wedding take place on the sets of the show, as this tweet indicates. We do know however that the wedding festivities start on the 10th of December with a jagran, followed by mehndi and chooda ceremonies and then the wedding. There is to be a reception on the 22nd.  People are very happy for the couple. They also hope that the show’s new season as well as the relationship prosper; unlike the last season of Kapil Sharma's show which went off air after just a few episodes.
