TVF or The Viral Fever is the original digital entertainment content provider and has created some of the earliest web series that went on to become hugely popular. It is a sign of having arrived in a very big way that TVF now has the second season of The Kota Factory on Netflix. Check out the trailer of Kota Factory 2 and other reasons why TVF content has been consistently good over the years:
Kota is a nondescript Indian town that has become famous for its coaching classes/ Lakhs of kids move here for a year or so to swot it out to prepare for some of India’s toughest competitive exams – IIT-JEE. The first season of the Kota Factory was released on YouTube in 2019 (also available on Netflix) it spoke about how so many of these coaching centres are like soulless factories churning out aspirants rather than educational institutions for students. The second season carries forward the story of Vaibhav in a similar Black & White format and will release on Netflix on 24 September 2021.
TVF started out with Rowdies 9 a video that became viral and drew attention to the sharp, satirical, but hugely funny style of this YouTube channel. The channel then came out with various other types of entertaining and funny and original content. This video is from the TVF's The Making Of... series satirises the imagined process that results in the dreadful regressive content on TV. As one of the comments below this video says, the video is more creative than most of the drivel that passes off for entertainment in the form of our daily soaps. The series also featured satire films based on creating blockbuster films, TV news, the Bollywood party song and so on.
This web series was released in 2014 on YouTube and become something of a cult hit. This followed the relationship of Mikesh who wants to get married and Tanya who doesn’t. The couple decides to cohabit and then there is an unplanned pregnancy and so on. The first season was followed by the second season of the series in 2016.
This was another defining moment for Indian web series – TVF Pitchers was all about the young professionals who quit their jobs to follow their startup dreams. The four guys encounter all sorts of problems ranging from finance to family problems. This again garnered a cult status because so many identified with the guys portrayed in the series.
What makes this platform so popular is how original, funny and consistently relatable their content has been. We have seen the production values rise over the years, but the content has remained consistently good and uniquely about the essential Indian experience. TVF has produced shows like Tripling (2016), Panchayat ((2020) and Aspirants (2021) as well, available on the tvfplay.com website, YouTube or other platforms such as Amazon Prime, Zee and so on.
