The Matrix films have been a genre-defining series of movies --- iconic science fiction films that seemed to predict the actual, probable future of technology. In 1999 The Matrix introduced us to the horrifying future possibility of being imprisoned in Virtual Reality by Artificial Intelligence. The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions (both in 2003) were the sequels and we are now to have the fourth film in the franchise, The Matrix: Resurrections. The trailer of the film was released at CinemaCon recently, but not online. Here’s what we know so far.
Keanu Reeves reprises his role as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss does the same as Trinity in each of the Matrix films including the fourth edition.
The trailer was released at the CinemaCon, an event at Las Vegas.
Matrix fans are still waiting breathlessly for the trailer to drop online.
The film series has always shown us a dystopian and horrifying future world where the machines take over and humans are reduced to prisoners in the ‘matrix’: as this older clip shows. We don't yet know much about the plot of the fourth film
This instalment of the film franchise will also include Priyanka Chopra, whose name is on the poster. The film will also star Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, and Neil Patrick Harris
We have had Indian actors such as Priyanka and Deepika Padukone in these hugely popular franchises before. However, they haven’t necessarily had very large roles.
When will we get to view the trailer – those of us who do not inhabit the rarified atmosphere of the CinemaCon at Vegas?
Matrix fans have been waiting a long time for this. This edition is written and directed by Lana Wachowski, who also co-directed all the three films previous films with sister Lilly.
Mentions of the trailer release are mostly about the offline release and not the online trailer release of Matrix 4.
Online fans are like this, but the filmmakers haven’t yet said when this will happen.

As of now we do know the release date of the film: The Matrix: Resurrections releases on 22 December 2021. Well, that's something I suppose.
