Right now, I'm asking myself why haven’t I heard of Inventing Anna before now? I dig Shonda Rhimes shows and this show was released over a month back on 11 February 2022. Very importantly (for me) it is a limited series of 9 episodes which means I can commit to it without feeling anxious and/or fed up. The Inventing Anna memes caught my attention and now I'm thinking… new show to watch?
The series tells the story of Anna Sorokin and bases itself on the article How Anna Delvey Tricked New York's Party People published in New York. Julia Garner plays the main character and other main characters are played by Anna Chlumsky, Arian Moayed, Katie Lowes and others.
Anna Delvey is actually a real person who pretended to be a German heiress and conned people, banks, hotels, friends etc. She is now to be deported
And some fiction – because cinematic licence.
This is the story of a con artist and based on true events. However the character that appears to be a mean and selfish fraudster also seems to trigger some sympathy.
Are many
This one has entered the meme universe. It’s rude it has so much potential for being used in various situations.
Those who like Shonda Rhimes shows are probably familiar with some of the faces in this show.
Some thought so
Right now a lot of people are really enjoying series such as The Dropout and the true-crime documentary The Tinder Swindler based on con artists.
There is something quite fascinating about con artists; has always been so.
The character exudes confidence even cockiness – which some actually find attractive.
And then there have been some criticisms about the uneven narrative and plot holes.
Clearly some people haven’t caught up with UPI transactions.
Except people in John Grisham books, that is.
Some would enjoy playing this on loop --- for others.
Inventing Anna seems to be a good option for this weekend – the memes point to an interesting character and an absorbing story.
