Right after the festive season starts the school season. What's that? it is the time when parents start looking for the right schools for their child to get admitted and you will see a lot of news around this rule, that rule, nursery admission and so on. But before the serious stuff for schools begins, come the selection of playschools where parents send their kids, so they can mix with other kids their own age, play a little, learn a little and get ready for school. Here are some recommendations for first time playschool selectors.
Find out the different playschools around your area and bring their brochureshome. Take suggestions from close family friends and shortlist a few.
Ask other parents for references and then prepare a list based on that. This would guide you on the way forward. Also, ask them questions about the school and their facilities as the activities the school does with the kids.
Your child is going to be with them for a few hours everyday. You should meet the teachers and staff members and get to know them a little bit.
You have to make sure that the pre-school has adequate infrastructure. That they don't stuff many children into tiny rooms. Whether they have proper equipment and materials, which is of good quality and condition.
Many preschools have 1:3 teacher student ratio. Check whether the preschool has adequate teaching faculty or not. After all your toddler deserves to get attention and if the ratio is wrong then they most certainly will not get this attention.
Does the school uses the playway method or the Montessori method to educate the kids is a thing worth knowing since this would help you in selecting the best preschool based on your child’s interest too. You should read up on both these methods and compare to see what you like, and what you think your child will like.
What are the security measures the school has to protect your child, physically and from all threats? How do you get to see what is going on? Do they provide transport and is the transport secure? Is there proper background and criminal verification conducted for all staff including drivers hired by the transport vendors? And finally how much is all this going to cost you?
These are only a few of the questions that you will be asking but it is a good idea to make a full list of questions before you start doing the rounds of the schools.
