Ranveer Singh plays former Indian skipper Kapil Dev in the film 83, which will trace the story of India’s first, historic winning of the Cricket World Cup. Singh has received a lot of praise for his authentic look in the film. He recently posted a picture of himself recreating Kapil Dev’s famous Natraj shot, the tweeple enjoyed interpreting it their own way:
The stance, the facial expression, the hair --- it’s all just right.
People had a tough time telling them apart.
The tweeple explained why Dev’s trademark shot earned itself this name.
The actors have received training for their roles in the film from the veteran players themselves.
…Others thought there was some overacting involved here.
Maybe the Natraj shot would be useful elsewhere, said the tweeple.
Cleaning cobwebs
Wielding the mosquito bat
Many of the tweeple were reminded of Natraj pencils – ubiquitous in Indian classrooms.
Does Singh now want a place in the cricket team, asks Virat Kohli in this tweet.
Ranveer Singh is known to have a rather colourful and unconventional fashion sense.
Singh has been known to sport skirts as a bold fashion statement. The tweeple never forget.
…On colour
If Ranveer Singh is seen to be imitating Kapil Dev in a bid to be as authentic as possible for his role in 83, is Kapil Dev doing the same? This deafening pair of pants seems to indicate as much.
