Indian men are nice. They support women's equality and women's rights. So long as nothing impinges upon their privileges and entitlements that is. If so, there is always some way found to belittle women who speak out for themselves: she is too aggressive, this is for her own safety… you know how it works. But then there are some Indian guys who do really get feminism... Karunesh Talwar in the video does seem to. So here he is and a few reasons why every Indian guy should watch this guy and the one called Daniel Fernandez below:
Some guys do ‘get’ what women want. So I found you a video by a guy. It’s deliberate. Men tend to listen when it’s a man speaking.
The term was coined by Rush Limbaugh to deride women who are strong, outspoken and who don’t take crap from men. His many hypocritical, offensive and misogynistic statements include the one above. Do you want to sound like this guy? No? Well, don’t ever use the word feminazi again.
Think about it – why are there women’s seats and compartments? Because men grope, pinch and feel up women. Get those men to behave and we can get rid of those. Until then? Ladies Compartments!
So if women now enjoy some hard won freedoms and opportunities – many men feel that women should be somehow grateful for this. Anything else you want; well hard luck! The fact that Saudi Arabia has a lamentable women's rights record is no justification for Indian women having to suffer also. Saudi Arabia also has public flogging and beheading... not the country you want to hold up as a shining example to emulate.
As the man says in the video, sati is not a western concept. Western societies also don’t burn women for dowry. The practice of female foeticide and female infanticide is not imported either.
I am sorry Indian guys, many of you don’t get the difference between the two. In case you still don’t get it, here is a chart you can print out and pin up.
Most men have problems of privilege; so taken for granted that you start to resent when others appear to enjoy the same privileges. Quite simply, the problems that women contend with on a daily basis, Indian men don’t have to. Men earn more, they are safer, they are allowed many more liberties, women have to move and take the husbands’ name after they marry. I could go on.
Here’s another guy talking about feminism; listen to him.
