If you are in the last semester at college, you probably hope to get a job in a big company with a huge salary package. But did you know that there isan alternative to the big company that is not just good for your pockets but for your skills as well ? Of course you do! They’re called startups and here is why they are good for you.
The true meaning of on-the-job training
That is the thing about startups, you have to play various roles and take up the responsibilities that comes with it. You will never get that kind of exposure in an established large organisation
No cap on learning and from great minds at that
Every startup has a mastermind who tried to think out of the box and created something new. So, if you work for such a person, you automatically soak in some of the attitudes and habits. The rest if you are willing, you get to learn by being in close proximity.
Direct access to the top brass because they are probably sitting right next to you
Startups are like small families where people work for each other and put collective efforts for great results. So, when you face any challenges which you will because you are fresh out of college, you will get direct guidance from the owners or supervisors and you can also seek them out when you want. There is no such thing as a hierarchy, so you don’t need to follow it.
The atmosphere is highly conducive to a successful career
If you are driven to succeed then the startup will give you the atmosphere for it. If you need structure and someone to tell you what to do, then startups aren’t the right thing for you. No one will ask you what time you came in or what time you left. Your work needs to be finished and to do so you will probably be working 16 hours a day. And every success, small or big is celebrated with exuberance.
