We Indians think that films should be all about fantasy and fun and escapism and should bear as little resemblance to our own humdrum lives as possible. So our appetite for biopics and movies based on reality was typically thought to be meager. Times are a-changing however. Indian audiences are getting more discerning and more diverse; demanding better and different cinema leading to a spike in the number of biopics we’ve seen in recent times.
