Firstly it was a huge coup to get the two Badshahs of Bollywood Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on the same screen together – a rare event after their legendary pairing in Karan Arjun. Then there is the fact that SRK seems to be playing what appears to be a midget. Salman appears to be playing himself (when did he ever not I hear you say?). Needless to say, the trailer has garnered rave reviews.
SRK plays Babua Singh and Salman is some kind of superstar in a special appearance; we don’t yet know what kind. It is announced that the movie will release on 21st December 2018. It is currently India’s No 1 trending YouTube video with over 14 M views in just about 24 hours.
Rakhee's iconic line in the movie starring the two superstars comes to mind seeing the frenzeid anticipation among the fans following the teaser release. Clearly I am not the only one thinking along those lines.
SRK plays a little person in the movie which reportedly also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Katrina plays a superstar whom Babua is in love with, Shama plays a girl with an intellectual disability.
The movie also marks Sridevi’s last movie appearance. Some were upset that the teaser did not feature the recently departed star. Considering that neither of the female leads even made an appearance in what is just a teaser, this seems an unreasonable expectation.
Many celebrities expressed their fulsome, gushing admiration and amazement for the teaser, the actors and the makers on Twitter.
Fans are falling over themselves singing praises of the two superstars and their chemistry with each other. Clearly stories of the two Khans being estranged after a falling out have been forgotten.
One vertically challenged person seemed really chuffed about SRK playing a short statured person. How cool, if this movie does for dwarfism what Tare Zameen Par did for dyslexia: informing people and removing stigma!
Many are predicting that the movie will be a runaway hit. While SRK and Salman are the most bankable stars in Bollywood, there is no telling what the fickle public will like! After all, clever casting is no substitute for a good, solid story… we don’t yet know whether #Zero has that yet.
