The first trailer of Captain Marvel dropped in September and left us with at least as many questions as clues about what to expect. For instance everyone was dying to know why the superhero beat up a sweet old lady on public transport. We now have trailer 2 of Captain Marvel and we have a few more answers… and yet more questions.
We now know that there are skrulls who are the bad guys and the krees who are a race of noble warrior heroes; literally blue-blooded. We also know that sweet little old ladies can really fight back – when they are shape changing skrull aliens.
The second trailer answers many of the questions the first trailer raised. We know now that Captain Marvel was rescued and imbued with certain extraordinary powers and why she doesn’t seem to age. "I'm not gonna fight your war, I'm gonna end it" is the line from the trailer that truly stays with us.
This tweet refers to the popular recent song, God is a Woman to describe how powerful and amazing Captain Marvel is.
Brie Larson plays Captain Marvel or Carol Danvers (that is her non-superhero name). People simply love how badass she is; how cool she looks as her helmet comes off (just like Ironman and Black Panther).
Some say that she does smile enough (because women must smile and make the effort to be pleasing at all times of course) and several others are busy criticizing Brie Larson for being a poor actor. Some others felt that her expressionless face owes itself to the fact that she is being controlled by the Kree. Others felt that she's just nailed Captain Marvel.
Generally the few film versions of superheroes are more stylized and much more sophisticated than their earlier comic avatars which tended to be much less so.
The trailer gives us a glimpse into the world of Kree – a fantastic, highly advanced world far from ours; much like Thor’s Asgard.
Some concluded that she is actually a princess… because all the signs are there.
…About this other Captain Marvel: that guy from the DC Universe.
Marvel fans don’t really care, though. In fact now that Jude Law has been inveigled into the Marvel Universe, they don’t know why DCU even cares to compete anymore. Captain Marvel releases on 8 March 2019; meanwhile fans hope to see trailer number 3 or any bone that the people at Marvel deem fit to throw their way.
