So Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana made it to the cover of Vogue magazine and predictably social media collectively lost it! No Nepotism in Bollywood – Really? Screeched some. Others were amused, yet others were angry. Some used the event to grab their few minutes of fame. For a while, everyone had an opinion on the matter and there we had it – yet another tempest in a teacup.
So that is Suhana Khan and she is on the cover of Vogue, so Twitter-verse collectively lost its s**t. My reaction was that the child (she’s only just turned 18) looks rather too made up; maybe airbrushed even. Maybe not your best cover choice Vogue - #JustSaying.
King Khan sent out this (to my mind) slightly creepy tweet – holding her in my arms again thanks to Vogue and said Hello Suhana Khan. The fact that he was quoting something cheesy by someone famous did not really register with me.
There is the feeling that the cover may have been a result of a childish tantrum; a call for attention from a star-child following which King Khan pulls a few strings and hey presto! His little munchkin is on the cover of a top style mag!
Most people are simply curious to know what Suhana has done to deserve the honour of a magazine cover. She hasn’t been in any films or even ads. She has literally done nothing except being born her father’s daughter.
The funny guys at EIC created this Time magazine cover with the adorable Taimur Ali Khan who has roughly the same claim to fame as does Suhana Khan. The tweeple however responded with at least he’s cute.
With sarcasm dripping from every letter, this tweet demands that the ultrasound picture of the as yet un-conceived child of celebrity couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma must grace the next cover.
This angry looking kid…that’s most Bollywood wannabes looking at the acres of coverage star kids get – simply because of the accident of their birth.
Some Bollywood hopefuls/strugglers enjoyed some amount of fame by protesting long and loud about the nepotism that undoubtedly exists in Bollywood, the privilege that entitled star kids take for granted.
This one just cracked me up! Suhana’s crib is that she was born to his hugely famous, rich father… oh! Boo Hoo!
Star kids often moan about how it’s not been easy for them; how expectations are higher and how they also had to struggle. Clearly, this twitterer begs to differ.
This tweet encapsulates my feelings. I don’t read Vogue and I haven’t the slightest interest in who they put on the cover; even if it be the very ordinary but glammed up looking daughter of India’s biggest movie star. If Indians call a not-extraordinary looking 50+ man with modest acting talent the “country’s biggest superstar”, I say why not put his daughter on the cover! Fame and glamour are evidently the only things needed – she has those in spades.
