Any glimmer of a hint about the last season of Game of Thrones is welcomed by viewers hungry for any information or hint as to what concluding Season 8 will be about. We know that it will have six episodes; each will be feature length. And we know that it will be on air in April 2019 and that it will feature the most epic of battles. Beyond that, zilch! The teaser doesn’t tell us anything much either, but here it is anyway:
“There is only one war that matters” says the voice of Jon Snow, “and it is here.” So clearly season 8 will be all about the battle and only about the battle I fear.
After several seasons of dire warnings about ‘winter is coming’ winter is well and truly here; so we can expect bleak, gloomy, forbidding settings for this season. Clearly they are preparing us for this.
The dedicated fans are like this right now; barely able to wait till April when the last season airs. Meanwhile audiences will be touchingly grateful for any crumb of information, teaser, trailer that is released.
The makers of this series have always displayed contempt for the wishes of their viewers: making the nice people suffer while the bad guys gloat, killing off the good guys unceremoniously, letting the villains win repeatedly… and making audiences wait… pretty much for as long as it suits them.
It will all boil down to one final, brutal epic battle everyone expects. It will all be for the throne, and we watch with bated breath to find out who gets the iron throne in the end. I do hope they take the time to tie up all all the other loose ends as well.
The makers of GOT don’t have a really good track record of making us feel good about the events that unfold. It’s rarely about good triumphing over evil, so people are scared of the end. They are very scared.
Once Game of Thrones is over, what then! For many, the future looms large and empty; without hope, sans succour!
Viewers are emotionally invested in the various characters of the movie and are rooting for various different characters for the throne: Daenerys, Jon, Sansa, Bran, Tyion Jamie, Cersie… the Winter King (gasp and god forbid!)
Some people are just interested in Jamie Lannister and Breinne of Tarth getting it on! Also, they’re hoping Jon and Daenerys are not really nephew and aunt.
Apparently every one... Even if the latest Game of Thrones teaser trailer is a crummy, old rehash that says precisely nothing, people are still excited.
