The Kalank teaser trailer promised a lavishly mounted, ornate period drama and the full trailer reinforces that impression. The movie starring Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt is set in pre-independence India and has now released the official trailer. The movie releases on 17th April to take advantage of the long weekend. Check out the Kalank trailer and reactions to it.
The release date is less than two weeks away, so the trailer has piqued a lot of interest online. It is currently trending at No 1 on YouTube and predictably trended on Twitter as well, shortly after launch. The story seems to be one of forbidden love between Zafar (Varun Dhawan) and Roop (Alia Bhatt), with Roop unwillingly wed to an already married Dev Chaudhry (Aditya Roy Kapoor who it seems is already married to Satya Chaudhry played by Sonakshi Sinha).
The high octane drama, the lavish sets made reportedly at the cost of Rs.15 crore and the chemistry between the lead pairs have caught the attention of audiences.
From what we see in the trailer, this story seems quite plausible.
Aditya Roy Kapoor garnered a lot of praise for his role – his restrained emoting and the tortured passion he communicates via his eyes.
This tweet points out something that most would have missed: it appeared just for a fraction of a second in the trailer and that is not a human wrist!
Mothers who make sacrifices for their families could presumably be heard to say something like this.
This line also inspired a lot of memes. Apparently, this is also “Virat Kohli after 8 matches in the IPL every year”, looking at the relentlessly poor performance of RCB in every IPL ever.
They are still making memes about the DDLJ train scene. Obviously, this one would go the same way. And I am still asking the question… why not just get into the bogey closer to you! (Sort out the seating options later.)
The meme makers had some hilarious ideas for this one. Varun as ice cream, Alia as the kid and Aditya as the father. Varun as pending work, Alia as the person and Aditya as sleep.
There is honour but not love in this marriage, she says… much like the ragtag bunch of opposition parties right now; hoping to stitch together a workable coalition after the elections. Or like everyone who ever went on a diet!
Apt, don’t you think…. For all those poor kids whose parents want them to become engineers when they themselves are convinced they’ll make stellar RJs!
