Things to Do This Eid In The UAE

The holy month of Ramadan will soon draw to a close and culminate in Eid al-Fitr. Since Ramadan began on 6 May in most locations, it follows that Eid will fall on 4th or 5th June. In the UAE, the Eid holiday begins on the 29th day of Ramadan and lasts till Shawwal 3.

Holiday announcements

Though the private sector holiday may differ, the holidays for the public sector have been announced as the Dubai Media Office tweet above sets out. So here are some ideas about what to do in the UAE over the Eid holidays:

Picnic in the park

Dubai Municipality has announced timings for parks and ponds, for families who would enjoy an outing. Mushrif Park, Mamzar Park, Safa Park, Creek Park, Zabeel Park will be open from 8 am to 11 pm and announcements have been made to this effect. Residential parks and pond parks will be open from 8 am to 12 midnight for those who want to enjoy outdoor picnics and so on.

Yas mall sale

A 24 hour shopping blitz is announced by Yas mall Abu Dhabi. There will be lots of discounts and promotions; plus there will be VAT back on purchases of over 1,000 Dh. Shoppers will receive gift cards with their VAT amount loaded on to it.

Cinderella at Al Qasba in Sharjah

Sharjah’s premier leisure destination will be bringing the classic pantomime of Cinderella to audiences during the Eid holidays.

Eid concert at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre

Hussain Al Jassmi and Balqees come together to on the occasion of Eid to regale audiences along with a diverse line up of artistes from the Middle East. Pop up food stores and retail outlets will be some added attractions.

Aladdin-themed interactive shows

At the Ibn Batuta mall, there will be Aladdin-themed interactive shows in view of the recent super success of the film. There will be roaming entertainers, craft workshops, art sessions and more from 6 to 8 June at fixed timings during the evenings.

Fireworks, multimedia shows

Dubai Festival City mall will be putting up spectacular visual spectacles on 5 and 6 June from 8 to 10 PM. There will be colourful fountains, lasers, choreographed fire works with Arabic music and more on offer

Eid sale at Dubai Duty Free

A four-day sale is announced by Dubai Duty-Free which extends up to 2 June; with a special 20% off on a wide range of products such as perfumes, branded watches and glasses, jewellery, clothes etc.

Trip out of town

A short holiday out of town would be a great idea too: Salalah in Oman is recommended for its verdant locales and reservoir. Mleiha, Sharjah is famous for its famous fossil rock foundation and the archaeological centre. Dubai’s Al Qudr lake is home to diverse species and is a great place to catch a spectacular sunset. Dibba, Fujariah with its beautiful coastline, Jebel Hafeet or Jebel Jais with those rugged mountains are other ideas for those who want to head out over the Eid Holidays.
