I love the sense of anticipation of a good movie, don’t you? A good story that makes us laugh, cry, think; great performances that stay with the viewer long after exiting the theatre? Well there are several really interesting Hollywood movies in the offing; in the months to come. Here are some interesting upcoming movies to watch out for:
The sci-fi horror film (release date 10 January) stars Kristen Stewart, T.J. Miller, Vincent Cassel and John Gallagher Jr. The team of researchers is seven miles below the surface of the earth underwater when an earthquake destroys their lab. They now have to escape predatory creatures that roam the floor of the ocean.
This fantasy adventure film (release date 17 January) stars Robert Downey Jr as the man who can understand the language of and talk to animals. The story is about the reclusive Dolittle being forced to come out of his self-imposed solitary confinement to set sail to find a cure for Queen Victoria’s illness; encountering adventures and animals on the way.
This is supposed to be based on the old fairy tale but the trailer suggests a dark horror film (release date 31 January) that bears little resemblance to the hopeful story we all heard as kids. I could barely watch the trailer of the film starring Sophia Lillis, Sam Leakey, Charles Babalola and Alice Krige, and I very much doubt I will be able to stomach the film either.
The classic tale of Meg, Amy, Beth and Jo and Larry released at Christmas in the US and will release in India on 7th February 2020. I have loved the story by Louisa May Alcott since I first read the book as a child. I now look forward to watching the film; a story of family and love and hope and a fledgling feminism characteristic of its times.
It is a fascinating as well as horrifying trailer. Starring Elisabeth Moss, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Aldis Hodge and Storm Reid, the film releases on 28 February.
This is the live action film releasing on 27 March 2020. The story is that of young Mulan who assumes a male identity to take the place of her father to serve in the imperial army.
This is to be the 25th James Bond film. After all the speculation about a female Bond, Daniel Craig is still 007 in No Time to Die. This one also stars Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch and others and will release on 2 April 2020.
Based on the Perter Rabbit children’s stories by Beatrix Potter, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is the sequel to the 2018 film. The live-action-animated film stars Domhnall Gleeson and Rose Byrne and is voiced by James Corden, Margot Robbie and others. The film releases on 3 April 2020. So, some comedy, some horror, some fantasy, some sci-fi, some action – we are promised lots of good movies in store over the first few months of 2020.
