The teaser of War told us what to expect and the full trailer gives us more of the same and a bit of the what story (or lack thereof) to expect. The trailer of War, starring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor dropped recently. It promises an action-packed film with beautiful people, beautiful locales, planes, stunts, cars, bikes, chases, guns… all in all a fully paisa vasool movie slated for release on 2nd October 2019.
“Kabir has gone rogue,” a worried-looking Ashutosh Rana says right after a preposterously implausible stunt involving planes, some security personnel and aforementioned Kabir. Apparently only one man can neutralise him and that is Khalid (Shroff) who can predict Kabir’s moves because of course, Kabir trained him. Bombs, destroyed buildings, choppers, fancy cars, handsome hunks and sexy women --- it’s all there. There will be war they tell us, rather unnecessarily I felt.
People seem to love the trailer – ‘mindboggling’ said one commentator. The trailer quickly became YouTube’s top trending #1 video.
His last outing as a de-glam teacher in Super 30 was in stark contrast with his character in War. Fans are full of praises.
Shroff is sent to stop Roshan and this is what he says. This line really caught the fancy of meme makers. Somehow, “get out of my way” sounds politer in Hindi!
This line by Shroff’s character also caught people’s attention because they thought it applied not just to reel but to the actor’s real life as well.
This line from Shroff triggered many more memes.
More student-teacher parallels.
People, particularly meme-makers liked this line from the War trailer too.
This line also lends itself to many interpretations.
Vaani Kapoor is billed as the female lead in the film. While she does appear in a few scenes, sashaying gracefully here, shaking a leg there, she doesn’t have a single speaking line in the film. It is safe to assume that this will be yet another testosterone-fuelled ‘action’ Bollywood film where the female lead is reduced to nothing but an attractive, scantily-clad prop.
I always marvel at how attentive people are and how they manage to spot flaws that would completely escape the rest of us; me at any rate. Well, this guy noticed the absence of a pilot, I noticed Bollywood short-changing women actors yet again... I suppose we notice that which we think matters.
